![OOMOL Connect vs Monid: tools meet your accounts, with external tools and business accounts connected through OOMOL Connect](/blog/oomol-connect-vs-monid/en-cover.webp)

Giving AI a way to search the web, look up data or generate an image often starts with a tool API.

Asking it to read your Gmail, find team documents or prepare a customer reply requires something else: access to your accounts, with permission to carry out the task.

Monid focuses on the first need. OOMOL Connect brings tool calling and account connections together. **For an agent that works with your business accounts, OOMOL Connect is the stronger starting point.**

## You have the tools. What about the accounts?

Monid lets an agent discover tools for a task, check prices and execute calls, with charges deducted from one balance. It is a straightforward way to access search, scraping and content-generation services. [Explore Monid](https://docs.monid.ai/)

Access to a tool, though, does not automatically give it access to your account.

Before an agent can read Gmail, someone has to handle authorization, store the connection and select the right mailbox for each call. Expired authorization, permission changes and disconnected accounts need handling, too.

Monid's published application OAuth guide describes authorizing an application to access a user's Monid account. That is different from connecting the user's own Gmail account. Following that integration path still leaves business-account connections to another solution. [Monid's OAuth guide](https://docs.monid.ai/guide/quickstart-oauth.html)

It is an easy part of the setup to underestimate: tool calls are working, but access to email, documents and collaboration apps still needs to be built or bought.

## A customer reply makes the difference clear

Consider this request:

> Find the customer's latest email, look up recent news about their company, and prepare a reply draft in my Gmail.

The search tool retrieves public information. Reading the message and creating the draft require your Gmail account.

With separate tool and account-connection services, you configure credentials for both and connect their results. If you are building a product, you also need to make sure every operation uses the right customer's mailbox.

With OOMOL Connect, you can connect Gmail and use OOMOL's hosted search, data or other services for the rest of the task. Account connections are already part of the product, so accessing the mailbox does not require adding another connector service. [Explore OOMOL Connector](/docs/introduction/)

**This is where OOMOL Connect is a better fit: tasks that combine external information with your own work.** Search results can inform an email draft, a document update or a change to a business record.

## Give the team the access each person needs

A connected account is only the start when several people use AI at work.

Some teammates need to read email. Others need to send it on the team's behalf. Sharing an account should not mean giving everyone every available action.

OOMOL Connect lets you set the allowed actions for each connection and choose which members can use it. You can create separate connections to the same app account, with different permissions for read-only tasks and work that changes data. Members use the permitted capabilities without receiving the provider's raw token. [See access controls](/docs/access-control/)

The team can share account access while keeping permissions tied to responsibilities. When someone joins or changes roles, there is a clear place to update that access.

## Building an agent product? Connect your customers' accounts

If you are developing a SaaS product or agent application, customers will often want to connect their own accounts.

OOMOL Connector for SaaS manages third-party accounts by project and end user. After a user authorizes access, your backend selects their connection and performs permitted actions. Connected accounts, execution records and usage are available within the project. [Read the SaaS integration guide](/docs/connector-saas/)

That leaves more development time for the task your product solves, with less account-authorization and connection-management work to implement yourself. You can add paid AI or data services as the product needs them.

## Which should you choose?

| What you need | Where to start |
| --- | --- |
| Occasional search, scraping or content generation | Monid's tool discovery and usage-based calls can cover these tasks |
| Access to your email, documents or collaboration apps | Prioritize OOMOL Connect's account connections |
| External tools and business accounts in one task | OOMOL Connect reduces the additional integration work |
| Different account permissions for teammates | OOMOL Connect provides connection-level action and member access controls |
| Customer account connections inside your product | Use OOMOL Connector for SaaS |

Compare costs for the whole task. Alongside search or generation fees, include the account-connection solution and the work needed to build and maintain it. OOMOL bills App tool calls and paid services separately; current allowances and rates are on the [pricing page](/pricing/).

If your agent only needs access to external tools, Monid is an option to evaluate.

**If it needs to work through your business accounts, OOMOL Connect gives you more of the setup you need: tools, account connections and permissions.**

Start with one work account and one useful task, such as reading a customer's email, researching their company and preparing a reply draft. That will tell you more about the fit than the number of APIs in a catalog.
