A file search returns metadata, not the full document. Content must be downloaded or exported separately, and the AI product must be able to read that file format.

How are Google Workspace documents downloaded?

Google Workspace documents use an export operation. Specify the document and a compatible output format, such as PDF for a document, to receive a download link.

Can AI work with shared files and shared drives?
